Doubt That the stars are fire

Hyacinth, a reluctant prince on the verge of kingship, is faced with an impossible dilemma when Lukas, a mysterious and charismatic priest, arrives to prepare Hyacinth to ascend the throne and renew his lineage’s vow of devotion to the gods. If Hyacinth does not succeed his terminally ill father and pledge fealty to the gods, they will rescind their divine favor and leave the kingdom destitute. But if he does follow through on his royal responsibility, he must forfeit the life he's always dreamed of living: a life spent happily with the man he loves. Little does he know, Hyacinth is the subject of an age-old prophecy, one that promises to bring about the end of the gods, who will stop at nothing to ensure the prophecy does not come to fruition. As their time together progresses, Hyacinth and Lukas begin to fall deeply and irrevocably in love with each other: a love that threatens the very foundation their world is built upon.

This story explores the complex intersectionality of faith, religion & sexuality, and questions the powers to which we hold ourselves accountable. It is a celebration of queer joy and queer triumph.
